Learn While Touring These Premises: Conservation project along the river, learn about calving, animal health, pasture & timber management, ranch wildlife and quality grades of meat.  Learn how beef production and conservation projects affect lives around us across the country and throughout the world.

Food ($): Double O Ranch hamburgers, homemade chili and hotdogs.  Beverages for sale.  Served by Skagit County Cattlemen’s Association. (Half of the proceeds to benefit their scholarship program)

Retail($): Beef orders, USDA inspected beef by the package, jam, harvest bread, honey

Free Samples: Homemade sweet breads, jams, honey and coffee.

Farm History

The original 713 acres were purchased by James T. Ovenell and Harold Pierson in the 1940’s and named the P&O Hereford Ranch.  By 1960, James and Mary Ovenell were sole owners and the name changed to Double O Ranch.  In 1997, a B&B and log cabins were added.  The farm is now in its fourth generation.

AgFARMation

Cattle have a very good memory and can see more than 300 degrees vs. humans that see 180 degrees.  Cows and humans share about 80% of their genomic make up.

Activities

  • Hayride, farm tour through pastures, cattle, CREP project and timberland’s; see deer elk and woodland birds.
  • Footprints of our farm matching game, matching games of our wildlife, cattle, horses and chickens.
  • Equipment display.
  • “Carving a ranch from the wilds” farm history and antique equipment display.
  • Interact with conservation District’s Blossom the pink squirrel.
  • Pet Skye and Champ the Clydesdale’s.
  • Visit the ducks, chickens and geese and turkeys.
  • Self-guided educational scavenger hunt for the whole family.
  • See herd bulls and weaned calves up close, pet and feed show calves.
  • Concrete Farm to School partnered with Concrete School District and United General District 304 presents their Fender Blender healthy smoothies information on their program.

From I-5 exit 232 (Cook Road/Sedro-Woolley). East on Cook Road to Sedro-Woolley, turn left, take Hwy. 20 east to Concrete. Turn right on Concrete Sauk Valley Rd. Go 1 mile, cross bridge, stay left. In 2 miles, Double O Ranch/Ovenell’s Heritage Inn is on right.
